Was The Treaty Of Versailles To Blame For The Second World War

The cause of the Second World War has been debated since the war ended. In my history class we were talking about the World Wars and I began to wonder what caused them. The Great War was inevitable and ended with the Allies winning and them issuing the Treaty of Versailles. Because this treaty caused much discontentment amongst the Germans, many come to the conclusion that the Treaty of Versailles was to blame for the Second World War, however the treaty was only the immediate cause and there are other reasons why war broke out.
In the Treaty of Versailles there were four main parts. First was the War Guilt Clause where Germany should take the blame for the outbreak of the Great War. Second was the reparations where Germany had to pay “6,600 million pounds for the damage caused by the war”. Third was the disarmament where it stated that Germany was only allowed to have a small Army and six naval ships, also they were unable to have tanks, air forces, or submarines. The clause also stated that the Rhineland had to be de-militarised. Fourth was the territorial clauses which took land away from Germany and gave it to other countries. I believe that the state's felt like they were walking on eggshells whenever they felt the responsibility to fight back. Because the Great War devastated Europe and nearly wiped out a whole generation, the states did not want anything like that to happen to Europe again. Hitler got away with what he did in the beginning for this reason, Britain and France did not want to try to stop him with the possibility of war to break out.
