The Boston Tea Party took place December 16, 1773. The reason it took place was because of a phrase: “No taxation without representation”. The phrase meant everyone paid the same tax and no one could influence the king’s decision. No one wanted to pay that amount of tax so they wanted to conspire a plan resulting in the Tea Party. The Boston Tea Party was the most well planned rebellion of the 18th and 19th century.…

To get the patriots attention the British marched towards them and started to antagonize them. “The foremost of which cried, Throw down your arms, ye villains, ye rebels” (Doc 2). Not all American colonists supported the war; those who were in favor of British rule were known as loyalists or Tories. The British Army attempted to organize the loyalists and offered incentives such as freedom to colonial slaves in return for service. To remedy this, the Continental Congress passed the Tory Act, which declared that loyalists who worked against the colonial cause should be disarmed and that any who were dangerous should be kept in safe custody. The Continental Congress was clear that the loyalists should not be treated poorly, but anti-loyalist sentiment was extremely high. In some areas, suspected loyalists were imprisoned, physically abused or killed.…
These two violent acts were the last straw and the Patriots decided it was time to go to work. The revolutionary war has now begun, at first the Patriots didn't know that they were fighting for their freedom at first, they were just fighting for less taxes. After a while when Parliament passed the Declaration of Independence it became a fight for freedom, this turned many more Colonists towards the Patriots efforts for the freedom of the United States of America. This just goes to show how the relationship between Britain and the American Colonies drastically changed from the time after the French and Indian war because of a series of events caused by the greediness of Britain. Yes, Britain did need money because they were in debt because of the French and Indian war but the colonists did not think they should be responsible for this debt so, they did something about it.…
Was the Reign of Terror Justified? During the French revolution an estimated 40,000 people were gruesomely beheaded. Most of these deaths occurred during a time called the Reign of Terror. At the time, mostly due to economic troubles and income inequality, there was chaos and a call for the end of the monarchy whose corruption knew no bounds.…
The first shot was fired, one was already dead and in a moments notice eleven colonists were shot and five colonists killed by British soldiers. The British had done it, they had created the Boston Massacre. The increase on taxes and the Quartering Act put in place by the British, made the colonists outraged and that led them to protest against Great Britain. A major action that the colonists took was the Boston Tea Party, this was when the Sons of Liberty disguised themselves as Indians and went on multiple ships to dump out all the tea to protest the taxes. The colonists also took the action of putting tar and chicken feathers on British tax collectors to show disapproval of taxation.…
Americans could never feel safe from Britain because they were controlled by Britain and had no representation in Parliament. Thus, Britain continuously taxed the colonies. Soon enough, a couple of patriots named Samuel Adams and John Hancock created the Sons of Liberty in order to oppose the many taxes. Their cry of “No Taxation without Representation” was heard loud and clear by other patriots, who quickly joined the movement. The simple message behind the Sons of Liberty spread like wildfire across the colonies and the organization became responsible for many of the events that sparked the American Revolution, such as fighting against the Stamp Act, the Boston Massacre, and the Boston Tea Party.…
Sons of Liberty, heros or fanatics “Always stand on principle, even if you stand alone”. My position is Fanatics, because they tarred and feathered people, they went into people's houses and destroyed all of their belongings.they also vandalized homes, the tea party, they were smugglers, stalked piled guns. This is why I chose that they are fanatics instead of heroes. They were fanatics because they did not pay taxes when everyone else were paying taxes. They just decided, okay,…
In 1775, the Olive Branch Petition was written by the Second Continental Congress, in attempt to stay loyal to the King, but for him to end the violence. They were talking on behalf of the Loyalists, and the Patriots, were not interested in this petition. The Patriots wanted to separation from Britain. In 1776, Thomas Paine wrote Common sense, written on behalf of all the colonists. He wrote about the need of democratic electives and independence.…
The Revolutionary War was a very important time in our history, it was when we the people decided that they were going to separate from Britain and make a new nation. There were two sides to this war; the Loyalists and the Patriots. They had different views on the war, but we must remember these people were neighbors, these people had Loyalists and Patriots door to door. People who were very passionate about their beliefs would do drastic things to the other side because of their different points of view. In this essay, I will go into detail about the Loyalists, the Patriots, and what kind of neighbors they were to each other.…

In addition, historians discovered that there were between 20,000 to 40,000 people were killed by guillotine during this time (Doc F). The ideals of liberty, equality, and fraternity were not followed throughout the Reign of Terror. Clearly, this demonstrates that the Reign of Terror denied the rights of people, therefore liberty, equality, and fraternity were not…

Additionally, France’s primary enemies, Prussia and Austria, sent armies to try to reinstate the monarchy so that revolution would not spread to their countries. Because no one wanted to fight in this war, the levée en masse was imposed (Doc C). Because of the backlash against this law and the counterrevolution in the Vendée region of France, the government began to create harsher punishments for what they considered to be treason. As many as 40,000 people were killed during the Reign of Terror, including the king, Louis XVI, and his wife, Marie Antoinette. However, most of the victims of the Reign of Terror were peasants, the very people the French Revolution was intended to help.…
