Was Romeo And Juliet Really In Love At First Sight?

Love, love is complicated and lots of people seem to take is very simply. “Love at first sight is demonstrated in this play, real love at first sight in my eyes is impossible, I think the word love in Romeo and Juliet gets misguided. Maybe I'm wrong, many other readers probably never even thought about this situation. Well what do the other readers think? Was Romeo and Juliet really in love at first sight?
What I believe that Romeo and Juliet felt wasn’t real love at all. Romeo :“Did my heart love till now? Forswear it, sight! / For I ne’er saw true beauty till this night!”(Shakespeare, lines 54-55). Romeo clearly mistaken love with physical attraction. Young men like Romeo always make that mistake, even to this day. I believe his “love”

The emotional and dramatic quote from Romeo describes his feelings after he is told that Rosaline does no longer want to be with him. If the news of Rosaline is no longer wanting to be with him sends into a fit of sadness it is clear that he is uncombable of handling true and real love. Furthermore, it is not just Romeo who is overly emotional Juliet also exhibits this trait as demonstrated after Romeo is banished, she states she would rather die than be without Romeo. In conclusion, both Romeo and Juliet act based on their overly dramatic emotions, therefore, are unable to make clear and understandable decisions and it is very plausible that their overdramatic emotions lead them into believing they were in love even though the feeling were just a culmination of the events that were occurring at that…

Love is more than being attracted to one’s looks, but lust is being attracted to one’s looks alone (“The Differences…”). When Romeo only raises the subject of Juliet’s beauty and never speaks of her beyond her appearance, he clearly shows he has lustful infatuation towards Juliet and not true love. Additionally, Romeo rushes into claiming his “love” for Juliet whom he’s known for only a few hours, when he was just in love with Rosaline a couple hours before. As a matter of fact, when Romeo is underneath Juliet’s balcony, other than speaking of her beauty, he speaks of taking her virginity in metaphors and similes, wishing that Juliet would castaway Diana’s virginal clothing. In today’s culture to judge who is the most attractive in a room and give them the attention is a sign of lust, not love.…

Shakespeare says in his prologue of the play (Page 7) “A pair of star crossed lovers take their life. Doth with their death bury their parents’ strife.” This does quite go with love at first sight but it can also help the audience believe and understand that love at first sight shows strong feelings what love is. In the beginning of the play the audience finds out that the Capulets and the Montagues (Juliet and Romeo's families) deeply hate each other a lot that they even killed each other and it takes a more stronger feeling than hatred to stop the feud between the families. The families actually stops the feud when Romeo and Juliet kill themselves because their love for each other was so amazing.…

When they say,” Love at first sight” they mean it literal when you see someone for the first time and you automatically fall in love with them. I actually believe that love at first sight exists because I was in that situation but sometimes it won’t last for as long. An example of love at first sight would be,” Romeo and Juliet”. Romeo and Juliet instantly fell in love with each other but were forbidden to see each other for Romeo was a Montague and Juliet was a Capulet, but that didn't stop them from seeing each other but eventually threw obstacles and tears lead to their inevitable deaths.…

Romeo’s heart was torn into pieces by Rosaline as she didn’t feel the love he felt for her, “she’ll not be hit with cupids arrow”. By Romeo using such depressing language to portray how upset and down he is shows the passion he had for Rosaline, “ sad hours seem long”. Romeo also uses oxymoron’s to describe how grieved and hurt he feels, “ I live dead”, O loving hate”. This reveals how confused Romeo feels as the unreciprocated love has made him feel shut down, “ I have a soul of lead”. Romeo uses negative words against himself to explain his emotions which points out to the audience that unrequited love is very heartbreaking and sorrowful and also that you shouldn’t love someone so instantly as it can result to disappointment.…

Love is the superseding subject of the play, however a reader ought to never forget that Shakespeare is uninterested in depicting a prettied-up, dainty adaptation of the feeling, the kind that awful artists expound on, and whose awful verse Romeo peruses while pining for Rosaline. Love in Romeo and Juliet is a ruthless, effective feeling that catches people and slings them against their world, and, now and again, against…

Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet is a tragedy, not a love story. This statement has perpetually been a contentious issue, as plenty would believe that Romeo and Juliet is the finest love story of all time whilst others will argue that the story is not of love, but of lust. To make a well-informed decision, it is necessary to first comprehend and discuss the main themes and context of the play. Romeo and Juliet is a famous play, written by William Shakespeare about two teenagers, Romeo Montague and Juliet Capulet, who fall into an ill-starred love and are obliged to keep it confidential.
