Thou Saucy Cassius Cassius, saucy, smart, evil, vindictive or just plain looney. This was the mastermind behind the assassination of Julius Caesar. It is true that he persuaded many honorable men, such as Marcus Brutus to follow him but he in all was not honorable . He was a man that had the most hate and spite towards Caesar. To talk about honor, we can say that Brutus had honor and that he had the right intions in mind when he repeatedly stabbed his best friend. But the same cannot be said for the con artist Cassius. “For the good of Rome!” he said not at all implying “For the good and ego of Cassius” By using this technique, he got Caesar’s companions to turn against him. Or was he guilty of loving his country more. One of Cassius strengths is that he looks at things from a logical and unemotional point of view, this is also why many people do not admire him. But because he looks at things with a unemotional mind, he can make the hard decisions that he thought was necessary for his county. When we look at his conversations with Brutus, we see that Brutus also gives Cassius “commands, but he deals with them buch like a brother would to a younger sibling. “I “an itching palm”! You know that you are Brutus that speak this, Or, by the gods, this speech were else your last.” (Shakespeare. 111.) The way he dealt with commands coming from Caesar was a short and sweet end. To understand the difference in the two men, we must look at Cassius. Marcus Brutus was family to Caius Cassius was They were brother in-laws. Perhaps making him more willing to overlook the flaws in Brutus than in Caesar. Or maybe has saw a darkside in Caesar, a greed that he would be familiar with, since he saw it in his own heart. We will never know a person's true motives and what their options for themselves and their country truly was. But we can speculate from all we have read and comprehend that Caius Cassius was a greedy, hateful man, leading an organization's of traitors against Rome’s true king, in pursuit of power and glory for
