Was Donald Trump A Fascist Ideology?

Decent Essays
Many political commentators have made allegations that President Trump is comparable to a fascist authoritarian ruler. Although there is no clear definition of Fascism, we have seen a strong political behavior which displays a nationalist-militant style of leadership. In Europe, Fascism rose to power due to the current economic and political crises of the twenties and thirties after the World War and Great Depression. It is interesting that Donald Trump has rose to power in the U.S. during this financial crises and issue with North Korea and potential nuclear war. Within the twentieth century, various totalitarian regimes had taken control in countries across the globe. Germany’s Adolf Hitler and Italy’s Benito Mussolini gained power from their country’s political imbalance and financial struggles after WWI and through their citizen’s desperation and wounded nationalism. Germany, in particular, was entirely blamed for WWI and had to carry out the economic consequences by itself because of the Treaty of Versailles. Cuba and Russia’s fascist governments were established through violent means: Fidel Castro launched a coup d'etat in 1959 and Stalin eliminated all of his opposers in order to win through “elections”.…

Other than through the eyes of the dictators, there is no way to positively look at totalitarian governments. When the government has total power over both a state and the individuals within it, basic personal freedoms such as privacy, security, and individuality are thrown out the window. Totalitarian dictators such as Stalin, Hitler, and Mussolini not only corrupted Russia, Germany, and Italy, respectively, but killed millions upon millions of people in the process. The scary part about history is that it often repeats itself, and with the upcoming presidential election, there is a possibility of such an occurrence. Many people are aware of Donald Trump’s campaign slogan, “Make America Great Again!”…

Trump also exhibits these qualities. People see him as the antagonist of America in the twenty-first century because of his backwards and often offensive ideals. The citizens of the United States need to wake up and see that the same occurrences that occurred in, The Crucible, are happening now, only with more lives being cost and more madness being…

Power has been around for a long time and has been used for desires for countries and individuals for centuries. Power can be used for good things or for bad, depending on the person and his or her position of power. Both Macbeth and Donald Trump used his power over others to get to their goals. While Macbeth and Donald Trump differ in how they achieved power and where they began, they do share a similarity in that they both began with a love of country.…

In which way are the studies carried out by Adorno (1950) et al. and Allum (2011) linked? The reason why this is an interesting question is that it provides a measure of how much Adorno's studies have profoundly influenced not only the sociology of his time and the classical studies, but are still capable of provoking a reflection that can find an expressive space in the contemporary psychosocial context. Allum has in fact used part of Adorno’s theory to explain why people believe in unscientific information such as astrology. The two studies might seem profoundly different, a time gap of three generations separates the two together with disparity in reach and resonance, a question on human evil is juxtaposed with astrological superstition, but both share conceptual and methodological constructs.…

First, the history of Antifa needs to be clarified. Antifa isn’t a new organization by any means, as they’ve been around for nearly 100 years to this day. In the 1920’s and 1930’s many left leaning groups -communist, socialists, anarchist- started to organize to combat the fascist regimes on the rise in Italy and Germany. Fascism is a dictatorial government that controls all aspects of its people’s life, and puts emphasis on Nation, and often race. Opposition is not allowed to exist (3).…

Joseph Stalin, Adolf Hitler, and Benito Mussolini all three were major dictators that made a huge impact in what we know as history today. Their leadership skills and ways of persuading the public were all different , but had some similarities. All three used propaganda and mainly focused on economic policies and the problems that the country faced with the government. Mussolini and Hitler shared more similarities to each other than Stalin shared with the both of them. All three of them were against democracy mainly because democracy gives the people freedom of speech and the ability to overthrow a leader.…

“The first is his intense cult of personality, which, for Trump supporters, is particularly driven by his reputation as a successful business-man who can “fix things,” and by his willingness to brazenly defy the taboos of political correctness. In addition, there is his blatant racist demagoguery, from his spurious and offensive claims that undocumented Mexican immigrants are largely criminals and rapists to his recent proposal that Muslims carry ID cards identifying their religion. Finally, there are the undertones of violence, both inspired by his rhetoric (e.g. the two Bostonians who savagely assaulted a homeless man while invoking Trump’s name) and directly advocated by Trump himself (e.g. his open agreement with supporters who beat up a #BlackLivesMatter protester).” This is just the tip of the Trump-berg, unfortunately. Trump’s derogatory attitude towards people of color, immigrants, 14th Amendment citizens, and women also fill the pages of his campaign book.…

“Let us have a dagger between our teeth, a bomb in our hands, and an infinite scorn in our hearts.” - Benito Mussolini. A dictatorship is the absolute control of a country in governance by one individual, formally known as a dictator. Absolute control of Italy, with the formation of a totalitarian state is a perfect example of dictatorial power. Benito Mussolini was appointed the 27th prime minister of italy in 1923, and by 1925, he named himself dictator, and implemented fascism into the new Italian totalitarian government. This lead to the suppression all other political parties.…

I have even seen countless of images and posts on social media comparing Donald Trump and his beliefs to that of Adolf Hitler, which stems from Trump 's public condemning of Muslims. So, when reading that Donald Trump compared himself to President Roosevelt, I was appalled. As we know, Mr. Trump advocates the banning of Muslims from entering the United States, specifically in the wake of the San Bernardino attacks. Despite supporting a ban, Trump did claim that he "…rejected the idea that he was advocating the internment of Muslim Americans" (Calamur). However, Trump justified his beliefs by comparing himself to FDR, stating "……

    Fascist Ideologies

Both ideologies frame the idea of governance from different historical and structural apparatuses, but both utilize organizing, activism and popular mobilization to advocate for their agenda. Colonization established genocide and displacement as building blocks for the political and economic platforms of this country, but also generated ideologies which normalized the power of the state and those who benefit from it. These ideologies allowed America to normalize powers of the state, while providing inadequate services to counter the violence they created. Co-optation of social change and the reality of marginalized people being murdered by poverty through the bureaucracy of the state justifies how liberalism generates ideologies of fascism. In a fascist regime, threats of violence are those who challenge the powers of the state, which has evolved from the silent repression of liberal ideals.…
