Was Brutus a betrayer or patriot? This question will cross you no matter what way you look at it. He was a patriot and stood up for what he believed in. He was cheated and lied to by Cassius just so he can get Brutus to do his dirty work. It all adds up to be honest. But then people are going to come out and say that he knew what he was doing all along and he could have stopped if he wanted or he could have went out and asked the people of Rome what they thought of their new king Caesar.To start off I want to point out that with every problem there will always be two sides. He didn’t do it for greed, personal gain, or even power. He simply did it because Cassius convinced him that by killing Caesar he would be doing Rome a huge favor. And as Brutus protects and loves Rome he went ahead and killed Caesar, not as a betrayer, but as a patriot. Brutus was well known and well loved in Rome so why would he do such a thing to ruin his reputation? As one might add up on their own, Brutus was very smart, but put under pressure of making major decisions he lost his mind. He loved Caesar not only as a friend but as a brother. Cassius convinced Brutus to make a false image of Caesar and this lead to Cassius being able to get Brutus to do his dirty work and have not done any crime. He only wanted to go down in to the history books as a patriot, where’s the harm in that? Sure he may have killed someone but he did it in honor. He was smart and diligent but when put under pressure he makes the wrong decisions at the wrong time. I know he may have his flaws but everyone has flaws. He couldn’t have done background information nor could he just dropout and expect nothing to happen. He only did what he thought was best for
