Alexander did not build the proper government when he left for war. He then left his people to their own, with no king at that time. When Alexander died, he never named the next to be king. It was said that “He was ultimately responsible for the failure of his imperial enterprise; for he was king of a society where the king was absolutely central to the well-being of the society as a whole. When the king failed, the Macedonian kingdom imploded” (MAXWELL). When Alexander was on the edge of dying, he did not pass the throne onto someone else. His soldiers asked him who he gave the throne to, his response was “The strongest” Once he died, his kingdom crumbled. He failed to pass the throne and as a king, he let his empire die down. Alexander had his soldiers march lots of miles in harsh weather. Also high of death, but for military fame. Once Alexander knew where to conquer, he had his military ready for war at once. But to get to the land they were to conquer, they had to go through rough weather. Going through the harsh climate was just for fame for the military. Also, “Leaders who concentrate excessively on goals are at risk of complacency when they achieve them and in danger of crushing disappointment if they fail to reach them.” (MAXWELL) Leaders or people that focus on their future goals too much, they are crushed when they don’t achieve them. If they get crushed, then that would lead up to disappointment and despair. Making his men go out into deadly weather to conquer land, was too high of a risk of losing all his men. If he was a hero, he wouldn’t have made his men go out in possibly deadly weather or make too high of goals. That is an equally important thing that shows that Alexander as a villain.
The most important thing that shows that Alexander the Great was that he spread terror throughout the land. Alexander, “Once he made up his mind to conquer a territory, Alexander the Great was unstoppable” (MAXWELL). Alexander was taught by the great Greek philosopher, Aristotle. Aristotle was convinced from Alexander’s father, King Philip to move from Greek into Macedonia. Alexander learned
