Why Abraham Lincoln should be acknowledged more
Although some people think that Abraham Lincoln did not show great leadership qualities, closer examination shows that the sixteenth president of the U.S was a strong leader because he ended the Civil War, abolished slavery, and was very ambitious.
One of the reasons that Abraham Lincoln is one of the best leaders ever is that he put an end to the civil war.When lincoln ended slavery people thought the war would end proved in this quote “Yet with slavery abolished how could the war be ended and the nation repaired. He is known around the world as Honest Abe. he was always honest,even as a kid for instance gordon leidner says“The future president was first called ‘Honest Abe’ when he was working as a young store clerk in New Salem, Ill. According to one story, whenever he realized he had shortchanged a customer by a few pennies, he would close the shop and deliver the correct change-regardless of how far he had to walk” (Burlingame 1). When he was a kid he was taught right by his parents to be honest and always be kind to people and that he should never. He never cheated anyone out of any money because he never knew the financial situation of someone financially. One reason that people might say that Lincoln was a bad leader is because he changed the Emancipation proclamation when he was in office as president sure he may have made changes but it was for the better “Sure, Hunter never really had the right to issue his order, and Lincoln himself would devise the general Emancipation Proclamation just a few months later”(Morris m 3).
