Part of our job is to stay informed to recent issues that is affecting our community, especially to be well educated about the policies that are being implemented that have a negative effect within our community. Several social policy issues that were raised were; policy brutality, immigration especially the number of deportation and racial profiling towards the minority group. Thought-out the presentation the speaker presented the audience with statistics to convince the public that theirs an issue that must be addressed. One ideology that was represented by the speaker was that we must understand the natural of our history in order to create political power within our community. Personally I think the issues discussed has a negative impact on on the poor and disadvantaged living in low income communities. Police brutality has increased drastically over the years, causing the deaths of many innocent individuals. The majority of those who are victims of violence are mainly people of color who are being target through their color of skin and physical appearance. During the meeting, the speaker allowed for open-ended questions, unfortunately I did not speak during the meeting. Those who spoke mainly were the members from the organization, who were advocating for the policy. If I had an opportunity to speak as a represented of social work to advocate for the policy i will ask several several questions for example, in five years how do you as a leader see the relationship between civilian and law enforcement, do you think policy brutality its going to decreased. Another question will be . Finally I will also try to advocate for the policy mention several ways how we can protect our young community, because the truth of this matter is that every live is

Throughout the past years, police brutality incidents have recently been reoccurring themes in news headlines. For example, there were the shooting of Michael Brown and Walter Scott as there were many more unfortunate occurrences. On October thirteenth Jasmine Rand was a guest speaker, along with four Mount Pleasant Police and Central Michigan University campus officers in Plachta Auditorium. Students were given the opportunity to write questions that Rand and the officers would be asked, however, I didn’t participate due to the high volume of questions that had already been obtained. Because Rand was Michael Brown and Trayvon Martins attorney in their civil rights case this presentation was expected to be about these cases that lead to the “Black Lives Matter” movement, race issues, and police brutality which have greatly affected both African American culture and views of police culture. Although, these expectations were exceeded by touching on Rand 's educational…

The problem leading up to police brutality is that African Americans, most often, respond to police in a violent and disrespectful manner. As hard as it is to believe police officers are people too, and do not respond well to disrespect. These behaviors create a cycle of misconceptions and turmoil, leading to more deaths and fewer police officers. A proposed solution to this issue is: Police need to be retrained on how to use the proper amount of force. Although this may be a difficult request this is one that can save the lives of many sons/ daughters, and helps mothers/fathers keep their…

Even when my dad and I walked through the door, people started introducing themselves, asking how we were, and just mentioning how glad they were that we had come. I didn’t really have expectations or preconceived notions about the meeting, I didn’t know much about meetings, only what I read for this class, so I went into the meeting open-minded. Another thing that really caught my eye was that all genders, races, and ages were represented in the meeting. My dad said that every meeting he had went to with his dad, had been the same when it came to having a wide variety. My dad and I sat down at the conference table and continued to be greeted until the meeting started.…

Recently, there have been several incidents involving police brutality, where police have been too violent with people. Police brutality has been around for a long time and for the same reasons, one being racism. The victims are usually, specific races such as African American and Hispanic. The reason behind why they receive such major punishment doesn’t make sense due to their lack of guiltiness. Police have used excessive force against them for unjustified reasons; the situation has resulted so inimical, to the point where these poor victims have actually been killed.…
