People are not heroes based on what they do. A hero should be recognized for what he inspires in others: welcoming, love, importance, and so much more. Warren Buffett is regarded by many as the epitome of a hero. Formerly a poor farm boy living in Nebraska, Warren Buffett transformed into arguably the most successful investor worldwide. Miraculously, Warren is still remarkably generous and modest even with the unimaginable power provided by his wealth. Warren Buffett is a hero to our society through his generosity and modesty. Firstly, Warren Buffett qualifies as a hero due to his boundless generosity. Over time, he has given billions upon billions of dollars to charities that he believes supports a good cause, such as curing diseases or eradicating poverty. In 2005, Warren Buffett was estimated to have a net worth of $52 billion. In the …show more content…
Despite being one of the wealthiest men on Earth, he is still very modest and wise about how he spends his money. Warren has “remained somewhat of a midwestern folk hero, lunching on hamburgers, wearing rumpled suits, and living in the same house in Omaha, Nebraska, that he bought in 1958 for $31,500” (Dow and Noce). This clearly demonstrates modesty as Warren Buffett enjoys living the classic, American life and does not care much for elegance. Modesty is a quality that not only affects the one person, but creates a better lifestyle for other people. This is because modesty makes sure that money is not wasted on just oneself, but is better used for others benefit. For example, Warren once donated over $1 million simply to assure that minor league baseball stayed in Omaha (Schlager). This evidently shows modesty influencing others lives because Warren was very conscious of spending money for others. Thus, when Warren is very modest about his spending, he ends up keeping minor league baseball, a very classic, American sport, in Omaha. In turn,
