Wardrobe freedom Why should kids wear school uniforms? If I were to walk into a school where everyone is wearing the same clothing, I would think that this is a prison. Prisoners wear uniforms, not kids at school. Wearing uniforms are a huge controversy all around the world. For many years, people have been deciding whether or not kids should wear school uniforms. All around the world, this topic has been a controversy to schools and people. Some kids believe that they should be dressed the same at school. However, other kids believe that they should be able to wear whatever they want to school. I do not think that kids should be pressured to wear school uniforms. School uniforms are restricting kids freedom to wear whatever they want. Making kids wear school uniforms is delaying the transition into adultery. First, spending time and effort implementing uniform policies may detract from more effective efforts to reduce crime in schools and boost student performance. (Starr, Linda) this is saying that spending time getting school uniforms is going to take away effort to abolish crime in schools. Then, more substantive improvements to public education could be achieved with smaller class sizes, tightened security, increased parental involvement, improved facilities, and other measures. (Brunsma, David) This saying that parents and kids will have more time to make their school a better place. Next, Tom Houlihan, former Superintendent of Schools in Oxford, NC, stated that school uniforms “are a distraction from focusing on systematic and fundamental transformation to improve our schools.” (Houlihan,Tom) Finally, school uniforms are not only a distraction, but are restricting kids and parents to make their school a better place to be in, learn in, and feel safe
