One of the similarities in the 1953 version and 2005 version of The War of the Worlds, was the overall message of the movie. Another was the aliens and how they were attacking the planet. One differences is, how different the actual plot was, like for example, the landing of the aliens. Another difference is that the aliens in the 1953 version never left their ship because they couldn’t breathe our air on the planet, but in the 2005 version, the aliens were always out of their ships and could breathe our air on the planet. The whole story of the main character is different, there are none of the same characters in the 2005 version that are the same from the 1953 version. It kind of threw me off a bit when there were way more differences between the movies than I was hoping there to be.
In my opinion, I liked the 2005 version of The War of Worlds, because it was a lot more interesting and less boring. The 1953 version was really slow paced and not a lot of interesting stuff was going on most of the time. The 2005 version had the good characters, but it mostly had interesting and fun characters, like when you just see Robbie disappear, I was on the edge of my seat to find out what happened to him.
