The War of 1812 was caused by the effects of a world war and the US just happening to be a neutral nation. The British began to impress American sailors and force them to work on British Ships so; James Madison delivered a result regarding British interference and impressment of sailors. The British continued and took advantage of the American ship Chesapeake by firing upon it. To cut all ties with Britain, Thomas Jefferson imposes an embargo on it, but the action results in economic disaster for American merchants, so it ended in 1809. The idea of war was then brought to Congress. Native American Tecumseh seeing the US will be spreading into his people’s lands takes the initiative of uniting the Native American tribes to form a union of nations.
