Being A True Leader

Decent Essays
Throughout human history, there has always been leaders to help carry the human race through time. Leaders can come from all walks of life such as: poverty, wealth, and most of the time, they can come from just being regular everyday people. During my time wrestling in high school, I was the captain of the team my senior year, so to me, leadership is extremely important. It was important to understand what being a true leader is, as well as what it consists of being. Leaders are a good thing, because they can help pull a group through a hard time, help organize a group, as well as lead a group to success. There are different kinds of leaders, such as: strategic leaders, democratic leaders, and then there is an autocratic leader. There are …show more content…
The goal of a leader once he or she has successfully proven themselves as leaders, should be to help further the organizations progress. A very good example of this, is what head coach Nick Saban has done at the University of Alabama. Coach Saban has taken a football team and turned them around from being a mediocre team, to being regular championship contenders. This is a good example, because he could get the people that he was coaching, to believe in a process that he has, and that was the way that he has lead them. This is a very good example of leadership, because he was not only able to get them to work together, he has also gotten the team to prosper. Also, another example of great leadership is Winston Churchill. Churchill was the prime minister of Britain, but he was also part of the military. After the second World War, Churchill helped to try and push social reform in Britain. This is an example of leadership, because once Churchill had gotten out of the war, he had tried to bring about social change in Britain. A good leader will always know, that when a goal is achieved, that there will always be work to be done, and there will always be able to further progress an organization, whether that be to add members, or to bring an organization to a higher level in the …show more content…
This characteristic plays a vital part in the ability to lead, because if you are not able to connect with the people that you are working with, you are not able to thoroughly lead the organization. During my senior year of high school, I was the captain of the wrestling team, and I was expected to handle any disputes that went on inside of the team. I was nominated to be the team captain, not because of my ability to wrestle, but because of the way that my teammates would listen to what I would say, and follow what I would tell them to do. This is an example of leadership, because I could communicate with my teammates, and get them to follow my orders. Being able to communicate with the people that you work with is vital, because if you don’t understand what it is that your people are feeling, you won’t be able to lead them very well. Another example of good leadership is Lieutenant Colonel Dave Grossman. I have met Grossman in Arkansas when I had gone to a leadership conference at Harding University. During his talk, he explained that a good leader can earn his followers respect, by the way that they handle themselves to their followers. Grossman also explained that the easiest way to earn respect, is by being professional, and efficient with his tasks. This is an example of leadership, because leadership could also be

One of the tasks of a leader is to make sure everyone does their part to achieve the end goal.…
