The war in Afghanistan was originally sparked my by the terrorist attacks on 9/11. The US was determined to find Al-Qaeda leader, Osama Bin Laden. After Afghan leaders refused to hand over Bin Laden the US decided to use military force. In October 2001, the US began bombing Afghanistan. They targeted Bin Laden's Al-Qaeda fighters and also the Taliban. In November 2001 the Northern Alliance, that consisted mainly of the United States and The United Kingdom, took control of Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan. Though the Taliban were quickly driven out of the city Afghanistan still remains a dangerous place. In 2011, ten years after the attacks on 9/11, Osama bin Laden was found by American soldiers in Pakistan, where he was shot and killed. In
