It’s amazing how people go on with the process of living while watching the news of locations like Iraq, Afghanistan and Syria, and how they are right in middle of a war zone. Mothers run across bullet-riddled streets to get necessities such as food while children play between the crumbled remains of empty buildings due to enemy bombings. With gunfire and sirens as their reality, life seems to go on for those living in war-torn countries. Children living in sadistic environments in parts of the world experience the destruction of their homes, the death of parents, family members and friends. The realities shown by the mass media is one side of the story as the other is a story that results in hope. Thanks to organizations such as War Child …show more content…
Collectively, we reach hundreds of thousands of children worldwide. We are committed to protecting and supporting children affected by armed conflict. (War Child) They work with extreme passion to help those who are torn apart by war in dangerous areas such as South America, numerous parts of Africa and the Middle East. War Child helps children overcome their experiences so that one day they can be in position for a better future through War Childs core programs. The reasons why children become targets of war are countless. For example, the Democratic Republic of Congo has an abundance of mineral resources and that makes it one of the most prosperous countries in Africa. Resources such as diamonds, gold, and coltan/tantalum, which are minerals that are resistant to high levels of heat and used in all small electronic devices are extremely profitable. The mineral mines are located is the most dangerous parts of the country. They are controlled by the government with local rebels fighting to gain power and take control of its resources. Due to this hostility local families get caught in the middle of conflict and are scrambling to stay alive by fleeing their homes to seek safety
