In the years leading up to her death, Octavian declared war against Cleopatra. Cleopatra left for Egypt without a word and Antony followed her. After the battle, Antony, unaware, was told Cleopatra was dead because she had spread false rumors of her death, so he went on to stabbing himself with a sword. But then shortly after, he was told Cleopatra was still alive. Antony had went to Cleopatra’s retreat, where he died after telling her to make her peace with Octavian. Cleopatra committed suicide on August 12, 30 B.C., by inducing a poisonous snake to bite her.
