The article, “Want to Get Into College? Learn to Fail” by Angel B. Perez is about learning from your failures. Perez gave many examples from students on how some are scared to fail and some get a life lesson out of failing. An example from the article that helped me understand the main point was when Perez said, “We believe an error in high school should not define the rest of your life, but how you respond could shape you forever.” I understood from this line that Perez believes that students should admit their mistakes because by doing so they become a different person. When students own up to their non-accomplishments they learn from them, they move on, and they grow as a person. I agree with Perez, I believe it is absolutely fine to make

This year I was advised to take advanced placement native spanish speaking three. At this point, I decided once again to put all of my effort into receiving an excellent grade. The teacher informed the class that at the end of the year everyone was required to take an advance placement test to receive a bi-literary seal from the state of California. I was nervous, but I knew if I achieved in my attendance, and completed all of my assignments I could accomplish the class and receive the bi-literacy seal. My final grade for the class was an A plus, the final step to receive the award was to take the test. I showed up anxious, the palms of my hands became sweaty and tacky. I took a seat with my classmates a couple feet away and began to take the test. I applied what I was taught in class into my knowledge. The grade scale of the assessment was a one through five, one being the lowest grade and five being the highest. It took at least three months until I was given my final grade. I reviewed the final grade and I became aware that I passed with the score of a four. I was shocked, I couldn’t believe that after dedicating myself into not committing the same mistake of when I failed my first spanish class I was now certified bi-lingual by the state of
