The first option would be the easiest solution, but not thought through. Terminating Fred Wu would mean that the company is risking the possibility of losing a major client that is needed to meet the sales target for the fiscal year. In addition to that Wu has a strong networking platform within that market. Wendy would be risking losing the possibility of converting most of his acquaintances into potential customers. Wendy has to take this into consideration, as it is highly unlikely that she will find a person with similar networking and confidence as displayed by Fred Wu. However, it is very noticeable that the working style of Wu is completely different from that in which Wendy is accustomed to. Wu is also unwilling to accept Wendy’s leadership style, so there is high probability that in future this issue will present itself again. Losing Wu will mean losing that presence in the Asian market, and will have a negative impact on the company’s growth. To minimize loss, Wendy should take this action of terminating Wu at the earliest. This will send a strong message to all his employees that the company policy and work culture has to be followed by everyone and no compromise can be made in this regard.

When deciding on if it’s appropriate to compromise, Wendy should take into account if compromising is the best option for the group or if it will hurt the group. With Fred requesting an assistant, while it was not the norm for employees with less than a year in the company, he did have a big client and to keep the client Wendy might have wanted to approach the situation differently. Looking for alternative ways to satisfy Fred such as providing him with assistance twice a week to maintain the relationship with the large Chinese customer as well as still hitting the new goals set by the company Wendy could later evaluate and readjust the
