Dear Producer Horton,
I’m a young actor and trying start off my career and I would like to portray the role of Walter in your upcoming Broadway play. Walter Lee Younger is the husband of Ruth and father of Travis and is the most admirable of all characters because he is ambitious and has passionate dreams, even though he is surrounded with poverty and prejudice. As admirable as Walter maybe he is severely flawed. Walter only thinks only of himself when he is dreaming about being rich, and does not think of the consequences that could potentially happen as a result of being wealthy.
The scene I have chosen to discuss is when Walter realizes that Willy has taken all of …show more content…
To act this out and show this in the scene, I will first start out saying, ”Willy!...Willy...don’t do it...Please don’t do it...Man, not with that money...Oh, God...Don’t let it be true”. During this line, I will begin looking around the room madly and later transition to on my knees putting my hands together praying to God,”Don’t let it be true”. By doing this it shows how Walter realizes how ignorant he was when he foolishly givea the money to Willy by investing in the liquor license and how he could have thought of the risks when he investa with him instead of putting the money in the bank or buying a home. When I act as Walter and am on my knees praying to God to not let it be true it will show how desperate and devastated he is because of his foolishness when he gave the money to Willy. After that when I act as Walter and say,”Man...I trusted you...Man, I put my life in your hands…” whenever Walter says “I” I will point to myself and then when Walter finishes I will crumple down on the floor to show how ruined Walter was by this horrible event. Then I will point to myself as Walter to further show how egotistical he is and how he not only put his “life” in Willy’s hands, but he also puts his whole family in harms way. Then I will crumple down on the floor to show how devastated Walter is. After Mama opens the door with Beneatha behind her. I will continue to act as Walter and will say, ”Man...THAT MONEY IS MADE OUT OF MY FATHER”S FLESH”. I will pound the floor with my fists intensely and start sobbing wildly acting as Walter. By pounding the floor it shows how he is in pain and misery because he now realizes that what was left by his father is now gone and by crying intensely it shows that he is defeated and does not know what to do. After Bobo tries to calm him down, Mama will ask if all the money is gone I will act as Walter and say,”Mama...I
