Walter Mitty Comparison

“The Secret Life of Walter Mitty” is an adaptation of James Thurber's 1939 short story which was released in 2013 and directed by Ben Stiller who is also the main character of the film. The story is mainly about Walter Mitty who is an employee at Life magazine. He spends the rest of his boring day working on unique photos for the publication. Walter inhabits a world of daydreams as he tries to escape from his tedious daily life. Walter falls in love with an employee who works in the same company named Cheryl Milhoff (Kristen Wiig) and hope to find a way to date her. He tries several ways to get closer to her and steal her heart. However, he gets an opportunity to have a real adventure experience when Life's new owners send him on a mission to find that unique 25th picture which is going to be used for the final print issue. The film sparks an important aspect which is how the loss of the people who you love could shape your personality. The loss of Walter’s father affects his personality especially because he has to get a job in order to secure his family life after the death of his father. As we watch the film, we get the sense that Walter Mitty is unappreciated by a lot of people who work with him in the same company and even by himself. This leads me to another important aspects which are the scenes where he is dreaming his fantasies. The scenes of his fantasies that are displayed in the film show me how these lead him to a point where he encourages himself to bring these to the real life but something stops him from doing them. I believe that I have a lot of ideas that I want to do the real life but something inside me tells me that you cannot do it for unknown
