First and foremost I would like to thank Walters Elementary for allowing me the opportunity to discuss and analyze discipline data. As a current candidate for the Principal position, I appreciate the chance to delve deeper into systems that are already in place and potentially aid in the development and implementation of plans to come. I hope that my analysis will help in shedding some light on, and possibly providing some guidance in regards to, disciplinary issues that have been trending over the course of the last three years. If selected for the position, I expect us as a team to find some common ground on which we can build future Positive Behavioral Support Systems for the students of Walter Elementary.
Upon initial review, Walters Elementary student demographic is primarily African American. Black males and females comprise approximately 46% of the student population. White students make up 30% and Hispanics 24%. Insubordination comprised the highest number of referrals and in response to those referrals the most common disciplinary action taken was out-of-school suspension.
