He was the man of his time. He was and is the face of animation. He has and will forever inspire others to do great things. He has brought joy into people young and old. He was great and powerful like Oz. He is Walt Disney. Walt Disney was born December 5, 1901 as Walter Elias Disney. He was the son of Elias Disney and Flora Call Disney. He was one of five children, four boys and one girl. He was born in Hermosa, Illinois, a section in Chicago. His family moved to Marceline, Missouri where he spent most of his childhood. While living in Marceline, he developed a love for trains (Biography.com). His uncle, Mike Martin, was a train engineer. Disney later worked on the railroad selling snacks and newspapers to travelers as a summer job. His …show more content…
He always showed love to his friends and family. According to the website “Just Disney,” his daughter said, “Daddy never missed a father’s function no matter how I discounted it. I’d always say, ‘Oh, Daddy, you don’t need to come. It’s just some stupid thing.’ But he’d always be there on time.” The most painful time in his life was the loss of his mother. It was after the success of his hit movie Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. According to the website “About Walt Disney,” Walt once said, “It’s the principal thing I hope to leave when I move on to greener pastures. If I can help provide a place to develop the talent of the future, I think I will have accomplished something.” He conceived the institute as a place consider “community of the arts.”
His death wasn’t unexpected. The lung cancer soon took him from the world on December 15, 1966. Disney was diagnosed with lung cancer before the Disney World park was completed. His brother took it upon himself to finish completing the park after the death of Walt. He also gave it the name Walt Disney World (“Walt Disney Biography”).
