Kirsten Acuna (2015) believes that, at the time those hand animated movies were made, they were considered cutting edge. Now that times have changed, movies are being made in today's technology. Computer Generated Imagery (CGI) is the new wave of animation now. According to Adam Epstein, a reporter at Qz.com, “Familiar stories, re-imagined in live action, have proved a surefire way of making lots and lots of money with relatively small initial investments”. We should not praise a company that has butchered the founder’s ideas of imagination and creativity. These moments are embedded in many people’s hearts and in like mine, it has even changed the way I view life. When I saw Maleficent (2014), the movie showed me a different version. In the new live action/CGI film of the movie Maleficent, she is the protector of a once peaceful enchanted land that had a power hungry king and his grand army. While Maleficent was the only humanoid in the moors, she was curious when a boy named Stefan got caught trying to steal a gem out of the gem pool. Soon they became best friends and even shared a true love first kiss on her 16th birthday. Soon Stefan would stop showing up at the moor to see her and days turned to months and months turned to years. As children grow, the ability to think creatively and use their imagination will help them learn and develop their talents. Walt Disney certainly understood the importance of imagination for young children and their belief in magic. By using that magic of creativity, that’s how they can develop their talent. Fantasy and reality seemed to weave in and out of stories that children and their parents love. He knew the importance of developing creativity in children by developing their imaginations. His stories were engaging for both parents and their children. He even seemed to be able to touch the child inside every adult. During childhood, I too believe in the importance of providing lots of opportunities for children to use their imaginations and their sense of silliness. The silliness enables them to try new things, think creatively and positively about the world they live in. With all these “change” to see my fond childhood memories tarnished, especially by revisions and remakes. It’s a little troubling to see Disney remaking these old classics for a new audience. I would rather go build a time machine to take me to my childhood and stay there forever. However, I would love this as much as the next person, I am kind of stuck in the present and I have to deal with the onslaught of Disney remakes, like it or not. Nothing can ever match up to the
