Invention That Changed My Life The innovator and inventor who came up with the idea of the sound cartoon is Walt Disney. He was the first person to use sound in the movies in 1928. This invention would change how films were made. Not only did he use the sound for the movies, but he used it on television. Television was new to people, but Walt Disney helped advertise his Mickey Mouse cartoons using the sound to add a new element to the cartoons. Many people were shocked to actually hear voices and sound without a person playing the piano in the corner of the theater. The sound and speaking added with the actual show helps us all see the emotion characters are showing through words. When the first movies came out, there was emotion, but many people didn't have the luxury of hearing words come from the characters themselves. Disney found a way to produce sound and add it to his movies, which lead to the sound we have today. The sound that the television produced helped it become popular when they were first released. Not only could you watch programs, movies, and get the news from home, but you were able to experience them with sound.
