There are many people in society who have had a significant impact on the media. I believe one of those influential people is Walt Disney. His simple drawing of a mouse led to the creation of a huge and extremely successful company. Without Walt Disney, who knows what film or animation would look like? Walt Disney was influential in the media because he created new and innovative technology to deliver entertainment to the world by using his imagination and collaborating with others.
Creating such a successful business was no easy task and took the contributions and support of many people. Analyzing Walt Disney on the individual level, we find that he began drawing as a way to escape his father's abusive parenting (entrepreneur.com). In his later life, after his job in the Red Cross Ambulance Corps, he decided to create his own cartoon shorts called Laugh-O-Graphs (entrepreneur.com). Broke, unknown, and living out of his office, Walt Disney needed help from others to build his company and his reputation. Walt Disney was unique because he was a dreamer and the sky was the limit for his creations. Furthermore, he had a desire to create optimistic, colorful, fantasy stories and entertain a younger audience. Examining Walt Disney on an organization level it is important to note that his success happened during the Baby Boomers generation. Therefore, there was a need for children’s entertainment which he met (studentfilmreview.org). The positive response Walt received from Mickey Mouse inspired him to continue creating and in turn inspired others to mimic his ideas. Today the Walt Disney company’s imagineers have create amazing technology such as Hyperion, Matterhorn, and Meander to improve animation and entertainment
