Walt Disney: Drawn From Imagination

Bill Scollon’s biography, Walt Disney: Drawn From Imagination, is the story of Walt’s journey to success. Walt Disney was born on December 5, 1901, he grew up with four other siblings Herbert, Raymond, Roy, and Ruth. Ever since Walt was a child he was interested in art. He decided to follow his dream. He started by making movie shorts for a local movie theater. He was hired then fired from many of his jobs. His biggest supporter was his brother, Roy. He was such a big supporter that he went into business with him. They were called the Disney Brothers Cartoon Studio, sometimes referred to as The Walt Disney Studio. Later the name changed to Walt Disney Production. In 1937 the Disney Brothers Cartoon Studio created their first feature length film, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. The brothers made many successful films after. One day Walt was at an amusement park and he noticed how it was so filthy and the employees were very mean. He visioned to make his own park, it would be spotless and the employees would be nice. On July 17, 1955 Disneyland opened, located in Anaheim, California. The park was very successful. A few years late Walt decides to make another Disneyland in Orlando, Florida. Instead it would be called Disney World. During the building of Disney World, Walt felt a little sick. I have seen many Disney movies and I always wanted to know who did this and why? I wanted to know why did Walt Disney become a movie maker. Before I read this book I didn’t know anything about Walt Disney. So I learned a lot from this book. I found it interesting that Walt ket going and never gave up through any of his setbacks.
