Author Jonathan Mantle notes the following quote: “We don’t even let the word ‘art’ be used around the studio. If anyone begins to get arty, we knock them down”-Walt Disney (92). Walter Elias Disney has trademarked the name “Disney” to be known around the whole world. It has been nearly 50 years since this innovative man has died, yet he is still relevant in today’s culture. Futhermore, the original Disney classics are still enjoyed by many people. However, most people do not realize the hard work and dediction that was put into making the Disney franchise.
All throughout Walt’s 65 years, he led a very full and creative life. The article “Walt Disney Biography” acknowledges Disney was born on December fifth of 1901 in Chicago, Illinois. Walter was the son of Elias and Flora Disney, and had three brothers and one sister growing up. When he was very young the family moved from Chicago to Marceline, Missouri. While in Marceline, Disney picked up drawing. Then in 1911, the Disney family migrated to Kansas City, Missouri states “Walt Disney Biography.”
Curley illustrates in six, short years later, the family moves back to their roots of Chicago where Walt enters McKinley High School, and started drawing cartoons for the school newspaper (118).

From there, Disney created the beloved Mickey Mouse in 1928. Mantle quotes TIME Magazine from 1931 when they say “Mickey Mouse is understood all over the world because he does not talk.” However it was not until nine years later when he developed “first great critical and financial success, Snow White and Seven Dwarfs.” With that, Disney became widely popluar which granted him four Academy Awards in 1954, notes Dow and Noce.
