Walt Disney was an American entrepreneur and film producer who positively affected the Golden Age of Animation, by bringing his popular cartoon characters to life. It all started with a sketch of a Rabbit which quickly developed into the creation of the largest entertainment complex in the world, which we know today as Walt Disney World. Walter Elias Disney was born in Chicago, Illinois on December 5, 1901. He was the fourth son of Elias Disney, a Building Contractor and Flora Call, a school teacher. He and his siblings were raised in Marceline, Missouri. This is where Walt began to draw and paint in his spare time. Soon after Disney sparked an interest in drawing, his family picked up and moved to Kansas City, Missouri. There he and his …show more content…
There he met Ub Iwerks, but things didn 't really work out between the two so Disney took a job with the Kansas City Film Ad service. He spent his time there making cartoon advertisements that were shown for one or two minutes between movies. After taking this job, Disney got a better understanding of this line of work and decided to go into business with Iwerks. Together they made a series of short films called Laugh-O-Grams. After the successful launch of this short series, Disney moved his studio to Hollywood, California. Overtime Walt expanded his work space and staff with the help of his brother Roy. Soon after, the brothers created their own film series called Alice in Cartoon Land. His brother and business partner, Roy Disney decided to postpone his retirement in order to oversee construction of Disney World. Roy was there for every aspect of the construction process and made sure every detail was what Walter would have wanted. After the park was completed, Roy dedicated the park to his brother by naming it Walt Disney World. He said that he didn 't want people to forget who started it all and every time someone would go to Disney World they would remember Walt. Walters wife also stated that "I think Walt would have approved." Although Walter never lived to see his dream come alive, Disney World was exactly how he envisioned it.
