Thomas Ian Nicholas and Armando Gutierrez, who played Walt Disney and Ub Iwerks, additionally contribute to the movie’s accuracy. In Walt Before Mickey Walt and Ub have quite distinct features like their facial structure, hairstyles, and mustaches. In real life Disney and Iwerks had very similar characteristics of those in the movie, (“History”). Choosing to maintain these features was probably important to production because of the well known look of Disney and the comments on Iwerks’ frizzy hair were important to make Disney seem like the fun person he was when entering animation. Hunter Gomez and David Henrie are more actors that contribute to the accuracy of the movie. In the movie Hugh, played by Gomez, is clean shaven with a smooth face and Rudy, played by Henrie, is a young looking man that has a small mustache. The real appearance of the actors are similar to the actors in their faces and ages, (“History”). Perhaps these looks were maintained because of the large number of pictures of these characters from the time. Disney and Walt preformed a Charlie Chaplin act and won fourth place for their skit, (Josephson 27). The event was likely kept accurate to show the viewer Disney’s love for entertainment and his young start in the entertainment business. Early work for Disney was also kept accurate in the movie with his first animation job. Disney and Iwerks work together at Pesmen-Rubin Advertising Agency where they meet. Then both are laid off when the company could no longer afford to keep them, (Walt Before Mickey). Disney and Iwerks worked at Pesmen-Rubin and after the holiday rush both were laid off and began a small company, (“History”).
