It was reported that females are paid less than males. The salaries of female workers are raised with a minimum percentage as compared to males. Duke said that female employees are kept away from the managerial positions to which they are capable. Another plaintiff stated that she was supervised by a male supervisor having less qualification that her. Those potential female candidates who did not get the managerial jobs despite of their qualification also share their views on media. They said that they were reported as unqualified for the job of the manager they were not able to stack fifty pound packages of dog food. In New York Times it was reported that nearly 33 percent of female employees are the managerial positions and 65 percent is consisted of hourly workers. Wal-Mart …show more content…
This decision will have significant impact upon society. In most of the suits Wal-Mart gets success. This gives an image of favor granted from court to Wal-Mart as it’s a giant company significantly contributing to U.S. economy. Those people who want to get job in Wal-Mart will definitely think twice before joining even after selection as lots of cases where plaintiffs often lose, persuade the person to consider the professional attitude of the employer. This will put negative impact on future generation of workers. The percentage of female workers is increasing day by day. They will obviously join Wal-Mart, to be the part of a well-known company. They would less likely to know the door of court or Equal employment opportunity commission, whenever they will experience any kind of discrimination, based upon gender, age, race, religion etc. They will do so by considering the judgment of this case where plaintiffs knocked the door of the court twice but get no answer for help.
