Walmart is one of the largest multinational corporations, consolidated revenue reached $485.7 billion, an increase of $9.4 billion, or 2.0 percent. Currency exchange rate fluctuations negatively impacted revenue by $5.3 billion and constant currency revenue was up $491 billion. E-commerce sales globally rose approximately 22 percent for the year, to $12.2 billion (Walmart Inc., 2016). Walmart has had a positive and negative effect on the community. The corporation can sell their merchandise at a cheap price, yet they can rise to the top, even with all the bad work environment; bring us to the question of “why can this keep happening” or “what do we see in having a Walmart in our community.” Will the store help bring up the community or down? The dilemma employees have to face is whether to feed their family or to pay for health insurance for a sick family member. At times employees are given a choice to purchase over-the-counter medications rather than prescribed medication because Walmart health insurance does not cover the full amount prescribed by …show more content…

Florida had Up to 12,300 Walmart employees and their dependents on Medicaid. Georgia had 10,260 children of Walmart employees enrolled in Peach-Care for kids. Massachusetts had 4,172 Walmart employees and their dependents on Medicaid. In Tennessee, 9,617 Walmart employees on Tenn Care and Texas, 4,363 children of Walmart employees on CHIP. In Wisconsin, 1,252 Walmart employees and dependents on BadgeCare (Film, 2014).
