Walmart Impact On American Society

Walmart is a place to shop for convenience and to save money, which explains why the company is among the top profitable organizations in the world. Walmart employees argue among the controversial topic: How does Walmart effect America? Some say it has positive outcomes, others disagree. Walmart is overall beneficial to the American society. Unlike any other stores, Walmart has the lowest prices for the amount of things you can get. This is one of the many reasons shoppers are attracted to the store. Sebastian Mallaby, a columnist for the Washington Post, states “Walmart’s discounting on food alone boosts the welfare of American shoppers by at least $50 billion a year” (621). This situation alone helps out millions of Americans, not only the less fortunate, but anyone who wants to save money on shopping for their essentials. No matter what time of the day it is, the first store that comes to mind is Walmart. The store is open 24/7 which is helpful to certain people. Some people may work a job where they don’t get out till one in the morning or maybe someone needs to run out for something last minuet they know who to count on when all other stores are closed, Walmart. People believe that Walmart disrupts communities an article mentions “Walmart’s huge advantages in buying power and efficiency force many local rivals to close.”(“Long”103) We live in a world today where everything is a competition not to cause problems but, to be the best out there. The whole reason why businesses are created is to beat rivals. For everything made in the world there will always be something else to compare it to, there will be similar things made like it, and there will be people to try and make something better that’s how life
