1.0 Introduction

The performance of an organisation mainly depends on the effectiveness of the employees. According to Jaw and Liu (2013), the in the context of the organisational success, the quality of employees are important rather than the quantity. However, in order to obtain the maximum output from the employees, it is important to manage them in a proper way. Hence, the role of human resource management (HRM) from the perspective of an organisation cannot be ignored. This paper deals with the role of HRM in organisational performance and strategic planning from the perspective of the retail giant Walmart.
Walmart is an US based global retail company that operates under 11695 stores in 28 countries (Walmart, 2017a). It caters the demand of 260 million customers across the globe. In most of the cases, it has been found that the transparent communication process plays a vital part in controlling the changes in an effective way (Pucik, 2008). However, in this regards, Martell and Carroll (2015) added that in the process of change management the leaders can play a more important role than the HR managers. Hence, in many of the organisations the HR managers role in controlling the changes confine into supporting the leaders. However, regardless of the limitation of the role played by the HR managers, it can be stated that the HR managers play an integrating part in organisation’s change management process.
