In reading this article, I found a few cultural missteps made by Wally Astor and his father-in-law, Henry Williams in handling businessman with the Brazilian Auto Parts Manufacturing. First, the owner Henry Williams failed to communicate with the Brazilian businessmen prior to Wally’s arrival that he himself would not be attending, along with personally apologizing. In additional, the foreign businessman wasn’t given any information about Wally and his relation to the business, which made their initial meeting a bit bumpy. Secondly, Henry Williams nor son-in-law researched the culture to ensure they dressed appropriately and handled business according to Brazilian customs.
