Wall-E Environmental Impact

Improved Essays
When I was 6 the movie Wall-E came out. I was fascinated by the thought of the world piling up with trash and humans moving to another planet. Much to my relief, my mom reassured me that it was just a movie. It looks like the world that Wall-E lived in could be a global reality, until Dutch aerospace engineer and inventor Boyan Slat raised over 2 million dollars to fund his new invention, The Ocean Vacuum. Since we live in a world where over 5 trillion pounds of plastic litter the ocean this is vital to the health and longevity of the planet. Through this essay I will show you what the Ocean Vacuum is and how it works, identify current challenges, and examining future implications of this new technology.
First, let's talk about what The Ocean

The major effect is a cleaner ecosystems. In the process of reversing the negative impacts humans played on the environment, this device could improve the ecosystem of the ocean. Without a doubt trash creates an unhealthy ecosystem for both humans and other organisms. Even the smallest changes in the amount of litter in the ocean would help, reversing the past and changing the future. If done correctly it could improve the cleanliness of the ocean, thus creating a much healthier ecosystem. Although, the trash won't completely disappear it will decrease the amount of debris in the ocean making it more livable for all organisms. The Ocean Vacuum can clean the ocean's plastic from spreading and causing further harm to species in the ocean ecosystem. As species are able to thrive, biologists and researchers can learn more about underwater life. By removing trash from the sea The Ocean Vacuum could prevent ecosystems and the animals from becoming extinct. Scientists will gain a better understanding of the full effect on how both underwater life and the impact of trash at a global level. Taking trash out of the environment will affect both the marine life and us. The unhealthy ecosystem for both us and life living in the ocean. This project is designed carefully and not use nets. They use screens allowing sea life to pass through, in turn saving much marine life thus creating a much healthier

Have you ever been swimming in an ocean, and you notice a plastic bag or bottle floating in the water? There are many ways people can pollute the oceans. For starters, oil tankers spill oil into the water (Doc 2.). Boats sink (Doc 2), and eventually the boats break up into pieces and spread across the ocean floor (OI). Next, people dump sewage and garbage from boats and on beaches (Doc 2).…

Pollution, overfishing, and natural disasters are affecting the oceans in a negative way. Pollution is killing the organisms and plants enabling us from using their resources. Overfishing is endangering the fish and causing the animals to relocate, as well as natural disasters occurring from the carbon dioxide being released causing troubles with global warming. Without setting laws on these man-made problems the ocean will continue to undergo all of the things that are positive about…

Often this includes killing plant life and posing dangers to local animals.” This shows that plastic ain’t only hurting the oceans this is hurting the land and other types of animals that live in land. For plastic to get into the ocean it doesn’t only have to be from leaving trash on the beach. Even if you throw away your trash at the beach but you still litter on the streets, plastic could get into the ocean from heavy rain, flash floods, because the water could pick up the trash and when it goes down the water drains all that trash goes into the ocean. People don’t understand how much damage just one little piece of plastic would do to the ocean and the marine…

If sharks are eliminated, who will keep the ocean ecosystem balanced? Without sharks the structure of the ocean’s ecosystem will collapse, causing the demise of important fish species, coral reefs and other marine life.…

The way we neglect our ocean with heavy amounts of pollution can potentially affect our lives in a negative manner. Driving cars and the use of plastic is essential to our daily lives, but we use them without the concern for how they are affecting the habitats on Earth. Some people think that the chance that they are doing harm to the ocean is less important to them than cost or inconvenience of fixing a pollution problem. Through sources from researchers and scientists, they have found evidence of pollution caused by the two essential commodities in our lives, plastic and burning fossil fuels. Environmentalists have found solutions to reduce the plastic waste in our ocean as well as attempting to reduce carbon dioxide emissions in the atmosphere…

The view of the ocean since the middle of the 20th century had been one of hope and prosperity for feeding the growing human population. Many believed it to be an inexhaustible pool of food and resources, and so efforts to create newer, more efficient methods of obtaining these resources had sprung into action. Somewhere along that time and now that image changed to a giant trashcan for people to dispose of their sewage, chemicals, and garbage. Two consequences of this transition, mercury contamination and dead zones, have come to threaten the ocean’s ecosystems, which directly affects us. Mercury and lead contamination in the ocean is a widespread problem that is affecting organisms throughout the world.…

Hello everyone, I am Charmaine Sultana and welcome and thank you for your interest in my presentation of the effects of plastic debris has on seabirds and how it effects the environment. Brief Concerns Plastic is almost everywhere in our everyday lives. It has become a convenient commodity which is used every day, from storage containers and packaging to plastic bag to take home our goods. Gopal, Phebe, Kumar and Vani (2014) refer to plastic as being inexpensive and overused, hence polluting the environment. United Nations Environment Program [UNEP] also estimate that in 1997 10 percent of plastic that is produced globally enter the ocean, and if this trend continues by 2015 there will be approximately 30 million tons of plastic debris that will find its way into the ocean and pollute the marine environment (as cited in National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Marine Debris Program [NOAA], 2014, p.3 )…

Have you ever walked down the road and seen hundreds of cans and bottles that were just tossed out the window? The earth is being polluted more and more each day as people are tossing their trash on the ground. Millions of dollars are spent every year, making simple things such as plastic bottles, because people are sending them to landfills instead of recycling bins. The earth is becoming a dirty place and it is already beginning to impact us. The best ways to make the earth cleaner are to recycle, buy reusable items, and stop littering.…

It helps not only the ecosystem, but the economy. With everything going green, the economy is in a much better place. Agriculture could be produced far more, more materials could be created for the production of other objects, the pollution-tainted oceans can have a time to recover, the ozone layer can be less tainted and the effects of the holes in it can lessen until scientists have found a new way to completely erase the exposure, and more time could be spent on other issues of our world and the threat of our world falling apart would no longer be an issue. With green (sustainable) transportation devices being used in the containerization business, there will be less moments where oil spills out into the ocean, less nonrenewable resources would be used, the marine life could take a rest and spend some time without anything unnaturally affecting the course of nature. It is truly a big deal to preserve this world that Green transportation even reaches out beyond what was set and goes into the world of how those of whom that are just standing around can help.…
