Walking For Wellness Research Paper

While in walking for wellness, I’ve learned some very valuable insights that I didn’t think that I would learn. Taking what I can from this class, whether it be, walking fast, slow, to get my heartrate up, or to just look at what’s around me. I know that there are many things that I can take away that I learned in this class that will help me in the future to be happier and healthier.
What I really enjoyed about our outside classes – walking around and observing – was being able to actually see everything on campus. Usually when I am on campus – I tend to just high-tail it for my classes and then home, I don’t to look at things or even try too. While being able to walk outside, I got to see so many things that I hadn’t noticed before! For example, in one of the light posts – there’s a little chipmunk that lives/hides. There’s two baby squirrels that live in the shed by the student parking, and I actually saved a monarch butterfly that had gotten dew on its wings. It is truly amazing how much I have missed/haven’t been seeing.

I’m not nearly as stressed as I had been in previous semesters. While I didn’t have a fitness plan when I came into this class, I do try to walk at least a little slower then I usually do, just so that I have time to pace myself and relax. There really is no big rush – and I have nothing but time, so I don’t know why I seem to always find myself rushing all of the

As a freshman, I participated in volleyball, basketball, and outdoor track. On the academic side, I fell in love with my Health Team Relations class and began to see the beauty of helping and healing others.…

Our day started every day around 4:00 – 5:00am with take down and folding the tent to carry in our backpack, filling 4-5 liters of water to prepare for the long hike during the day, putting all personal belongings in the backpack, cleaning the fire pit and the campsite using leave no trace techniques. We then hiked 4-12 miles every day depending on the itinerary. When we arrived at the campsite at the end of the day, we participated in the activities we had signed up for. We would then set up our tents, cook dinner, put all food and smellables in a bear bag and hang it on the tree using a rope, set up a camp fire in the metal ring and end the day around 9:30pm, after a crew meeting to plan for the next day. Day 1: We left Naperville Station…

My experience of stress can be best described as a rollercoaster, steadily climbing and once at the top it can plunge down and back up and to the left and to the right, almost as if the stress is controlling the ride. Stress has changed over the years as well. My early childhood life didn’t include the worry of life, but the concern of self. I grew up as a very shy individual and was constantly scared to talk or speak in many situations. I am not sure how or why I was a shy individual, but it was a big stressor during my early development.…

This class was actually very interesting and really helped me to open my eyes to the ways in which I have been not focusing on my physical health. When it comes to my present activity level, a lot has changed from the beginning of this class. I have to say that before this class I never made physical activity a priority in my day. I counted walking to class as a form of physical activity, which it was, but not enough. I am a lazy person and would rather be laying around watching Netflix than going to the gym.…

The first reading of this course was very interesting for me to read! The most important concept or item I got from the reading was how many components of our health their our and how important it is to take care of all of them. Before further reading about all six, I thought that physical wellness and mental wellness were the only two components of health/wellness, but the chapter clarified the differences between, for example, mental and spiritual wellness, and then all of the components seemed equally important. The second most important thing I read (or viewed) was the table of leading deaths in women in the USA and around the world.…
