Clarias Batrachus also known as the" Walking Catfish" originated in South Asia. They are found in the many U.S States. However, Florida has the biggest population. Walking Catfish was introduced to Florida in the 1960's. According to Columbia Education, the Walking Catfish was imported to Florida from Thailand for the aquarium trade. The fish had escaped from Broward County Aquarium through transportation. Humans also intentionally released them into wild. Through the years the fish has spread throughout South Florida. Walking Catfish migrate through canals and over land. Its fins help it to move over the land like a snake. They can survive in many wetlands such as lakes, rivers, ponds, prairies and swamps.
