Dee decides to visit her family, on her summer break from college. When she arrives at the familiar home she grew up in; she begins to judge it. She also begins to downgrade her family, she brags on how her life is going. She does not show any emotions that she misses her family. When Dee visits her family she leads her mother to believe Maggie is the stronger sister, Dee is responsible for the house fire, and she needs to protect Maggie from Dee’s bullying.
When Dee visits her family she leads her mother to believe Maggie is the stronger sister. First, Maggie is willing to give away her quilts. For example, Maggie inherits the quilts when she marries her future husband. For another example, she cares about her sister feelings. “"She can have them, Mama" (Walker). When Dee visits her family she leads her mother to believe she needs to protect Maggie from her. First, Mama needs to grab Dee and shake her. “Often I fought off the temptation to shake her” (Walker). For example, she never disciplines Dee. For another example, if mama makes Dee fear her, she would behave better. Second, Mama needs to stop letting Dee talk about Maggie. For proof, Every time Dee says something negative about Maggie, Mama should slap her. For more proof, Mama should not allow Dee to talk about Maggie, unless it is something positive.
Maggie is the stronger sister, Dee is responsible for the house fire, and Mama needs to protect Maggie from Dee’s bullying. If Dee changes her attitude, her family will be happy. Dee should spend time with her sister, instead of bullying her. It is a very likely chance if Dee spend time with Maggie it will give her
