Pre-primary teachers at Waldorf work hard at play because play is an important part of child development. I have been a Waldorf teacher and I loved every minute of it. But what pleases me the most is that my students loved it even more. We have built a comfortable nest for children where they can be themselves and additionally, learn that the world is a safe and beautiful place to live in.

The 3 R’s at Waldorf
Rhythm
It is the daily, weekly and seasonal routine followed in the class which gives a sense of security to the child because he knows exactly what comes next.
Repetition
Practicing everything (from songs to desired behaviour) consistently till it becomes routine and can be done without thinking. This induces discipline and at the same time leaves the mind free for real thinking.
Reverence
Respect for fellow human beings, environment and even inanimate things; inculcating a sense of gratitude in children.
Other features
Nothing happens abruptly in a Waldorf class. There is a smooth transition from one activity to another, taking care that periods of work are followed by periods of rest. We also incorporate the natural phenomenon of breathing in and breathing out in the daily routine; as meditation is a crucial part of one’s well
