During my Wal-Mart wander I noticed in the pharmacy section that there was only women working in that section and the pharmacist was a woman as well. I also noticed in the checkout section all women were checking out customers. Where were all the men? I’ll tell you, they were in the back unloading boxes from trucks and putting them on the shelves. I didn’t see any women working back there when I was observing. I’m guessing they have the men in charge of unloading boxes and putting them on shelves because of the back baring labor and that’s a man’s job to be doing all the heavy lifting. On one baby item there was a white mom and dad playing with their child. On the other (same product) there was a black women playing with her daughter. I can see this as a gender bias because in today’s society, many people think that black men are never there for their children and they are mainly known as the dead beat dads. I can see this reflecting towards race and gender. From my understanding, I know many white dads that are also dead beat dads and the population of black men is very slim compared to the population to white men. So why just aim it towards the black men? When I looked at the birthday cards between the men and women. I noticed that the cards for women are very girly and they only read English. A lot of the cards for women were pink, had flowers and glitter on them. The cards for the men were darker colors such as brown, black, dark blue and dark green. They were very manly and they only read English as well. I didn’t not see any Spanish cards for people of other cultures. I also noticed that the card for the men had humor and a few offensive jokes. The cards for the women were more sentimental and sensitive. Are they saying that men can only be funny and tell jokes? I know many women who are extremely funny (me being one of them). Also, are they saying that women are more sensitive than men? I personally know guys who have a sensitive
