Most stores need to fulfill the demand of their customers to keep their business running. The demand of most customers is low prices. Wal-Mart can either please their customer or make their employees happy. If Wal-Mart offers their workers health insurance, then they would have to “increase the price of their goods and service” (Reich). Wal-Mart’s low prices are the ones that lure the people to shop there. Otherwise, every store is the same. Price is what differentiate one store from another. If Wal-Mart increases the prices of their items, then they would lose a lot of customers. If Wal-Mart continues to bargain, it would not be able to satisfy its employees because “the easier it is for us to get great deals, the stronger the downward pressure on wages and benefits.” (Reich). If Wal-Mart doesn’t provide consumers with things that are affordable, then the buyers shop at another store. People don’t care about where are they are getting their things from. The only thing that matter to them is being able to get what they need at lower price. People are the ones that pressure the companies to give better bargain.
