Mahi enters a water slalom skiing competition cheered on by his best friend CHIP CONLEY. SHIK LEE bullies Mahi. Shik competes in wakeboarding against BLAKE BOSS, a local legend.

She sees Blake fall and slam hard against the water. Hudson dives in after him. He’s transported to the hospital. CURTIS PARKS (older man) tells Hudson he may pull her sponsorship. Curtis approaches Mahi about competing in wakeboarding. Mahi lies and says he knows how. He doesn’t.
Mahi and Chip come up with a plan for Mahi to practice. His father won the same slalom skiing event years ago. His Uncle Bobby also had a similar accident when boarding. Mahi hopes to meet his uncle one day.

Mahi begins his training. Because of his injury, Blake encourages Mahi to take his spot at Canyon Lake. Nilly also tells Mahi that she believes Shik was responsible for Blake’s accident. She wants to prove it and get revenge.

Mahi continues to practice, but considers quitting. Chip tells Mahi his father would have wanted him to try. Jeeg tells Mahi to follow his heart.

Mahi, Hudson, and Shik meet with Curtis. He tells them that only one of them will win the sponsorship at the Pistakee tournament. They have a month to prepare. Hudson needs a boat to practice and trades RODEE’s phone number with Mahi for a boat. Rodee is a former wakeboard champion, who can help train them. Hudson has strong skills. Rodee warns Mahi and Hudson to stay away from Nilly.

At the competition, even though Hudson is the best, the sponsorship goes to Shik. Rodee agrees to sponsor Hudson. Mahi is disillusioned and wants to quit, Mahi feels used by both Rodee and Hudson.

When Shik has a bad fall, Mahi saves his life. Shik befriends him and takes him to the Quarry Lake Cable Park and teaches him cable boarding. They have to conquer the “mountain” in the lake. While practicing, they are harassed by ASHER BRYANT and SWAIN. Asher later befriends Mahi and promises to sponsor him at the competition.

When Rodee tries to mentor Mahi, Mahi tells Rodee he’s his father, but Rodee confesses he’s his uncle – he’s uncle Bobby. Mahi is startled. Rodee blamed himself for his father’s accident.

At the competition, it’s wakeboarding and cable boarding, but Mahi discovers that Asher betrayed him. Asher wants to compete and refuses to sponsor Mahi. To Mahi’s surprise Rodee agrees to sponsor him.

The competition begins and Hudson gives Mahi advise on how to conquer the mountain. Mahi lands in first place. When Shik competes he falls, but he believes his board was messed with by Nilly and that she also sabotaged Hudson’s board. Mahi races to stop Hudson from using her board. She borrows one.
