Inside the mind of a master procrastinator Tim Urban is an author-blogger and has a blog called Wait, But Why. In his Ted talk is explain the difference between a procrastinator and a non-procrastinator. Urban explains that he has been a procrastinator ever since he was in college, and is still a procrastinator. He compares the brains of the Rational Decision Maker versus the Instant Gratification Monkey. Urban is explaining the difference between the Rational Decision Maker and the Instant Gratification Monkey, by using a slide show. I agree with Urban on a how procrastinators think and/or act. To an extent, I am a procrastinator, especially on this paper that is due. However, my husband is the picture-perfect procrastinator. According …show more content…
A Procrastinator wants to have fun and not work on what they need to work on. Fun is better than being serious. Being serious all the time leads to a boring life everyone needs to have a little bit of fun every now and then. All monkey’s no matter what they are doing or what kind of deadline they have, goes through the same thing: “guilt, dread anxiety, self-hatred – all those good procrastinators feeling” (Urban 6:42). It is easy to wait until the last minute before you start on your project and realize the you only have a few day or hours before it is due. Then here come all those feelings that have built up inside, and when they come out according to Urban it is your Panic Monster that tries to reel you back in and to get on back track to get your work done, so you will not have all those feelings. Urban shared his response on procrastination on his blog one day and he received lots of responses regarding procrastination. People responded to his blog and Urban realized that there are two kinds of procrastinators, the deadline procrastinators and non-deadline procrastinators also, known as Long Term Procrastinators.
