Efforts have been underway to alleviate gender discrimination after women have demonstrated repugnance against their bigotry. Regardless of these attempted endeavors, controversies revolving around modern wage gaps form the question, “Why do they still exist?” The truth is, although there are factors that contribute to both racial and gender wage gaps, all men and women alike deserve the same pay as men and are not given this right due to prejudice. The wage gap between Caucasian men and women has decreased over time, but still endures. Studies have shown that women provide an equal amount of effort into the workforce as men, yet make much less. One example of this would be the Gal Gadot controversy. Gadot was paid $300,000 for her massive role in the movie, “Wonder Woman,” whereas some of her acting counterparts have made more. For example, studies have shown that women tend to take more vacations than men. Older women also are payed less, most likely because it is assumed that they will put in less effort and they have a shorter life span. These forces can definitely contribute to the wage gap problem, but there are still obvious flaws in this system. Not all women take an excessive amount of vacations, and older generations being payed less is another form of discrimination, yet women are payed less regardless of all these things. Not to mention, many businesses state that their workers recieve equal pay, when women actually recieve less than men. For example, at Easyjet, women pay rates are 52% lower than men, with Virgin Money and Ladbrokes close behind with a solid 33% and 15% wage gap. Although women are payed much less in these firms, each one says that its workers are payed equally. This yet again proves the unfair and illegitimate wage gap

In an age rife with claims of false equality, of which are preached upon by those in power and consumed by the masses, it is no surprise that many have forgotten the actuality of a wage barrier between men and women.
