It was rose from 62 percent of what men make, to 77 percent of what men make. Now while this is definitely an improvement, there is still no logical reason that men should be making more. Since these laws are so poorly enforced and hard to prove, we must ask legislation to patch up the loose ends of the prior laws and make it so women can be paid the same or at least be able to take their case to court and win. As of right now, it is hard for women to prove that they are being discriminated against due to the fact of how poorly written the Equal Pay Act of 1963 and Title VII of The Civil Rights Act were. They deserve to be able to provide for these children by having fair pay rates. About 1 in 4 people over the age of 25 will never get married. If these women do not get married, who is supposed to take care of these children? With the differential in pay taking place, women do not have the financial resources to hire a baby sitter or take their children to a day care center. If we raise the pay of women to that of their counterparts, we can benefit our future, which are the children. By making pay equal, these women will be able to take better care of their children and provide them with a better life. By providing these children with a better life. We live in the year 2014. Women do not need men to depend on. Women are fully capable of living on their own and providing for themselves. Why must we put a restraint on the amount of money that women can make? Why make it harder for someone to provide for their family based on their race? It is complete nonsense. Women are proven to be smarter than men. Why are we limiting the roles that women hold when they are indeed smarter?
