Millions of us continue to be manipulated by politicians and today, you will begin to take international action. Today, you will understand how, “Politics determine who has the power, not who has the truth” for their own ambitious pursuits through manipulating the facts in a way that is perceived unknown.
Power is the potential to impact behaviours of people or development of circumstances by manipulating the truth to maintain the representation of politicians. Wag the Dog, a satirical film, directed by Barry Levinson in 1977 twists the truth on a presidential sex scandal to manipulate the audience to re-elect for the current President. Similarly, Michelle Obama’s speech during the Hillary Clinton campaign stop in New Hampshire during 2016, expresses her opinion on Donald Trump’s immoral behaviour, to control the audience to vote for Hillary Clinton. The ‘spin doctors’, Brean, Motss and Ames fabricate the Albanian war through a mise en scene with images of them in front of large screens manipulating the footage to suit the president’s lubricous demands about a calico cat. The low angle shot of Brean with the American flag superimposed on the window illustrates Brean’s true machiavellian power and the simple gesture of nodding to the secret service agent represents his true immoral power as he is willing to sacrifice Motss to disguise the truth.
