Choice of Businesses
The reason why I chose the BBC and WHUFC to evaluate is because they are both very different organisation, making it easy to identify similarities and differences. WHUFC is PLC (Private Limited Company) which is owned by David Gold and David Sullivan. However, the BBC is publically owned and gets their income primarily from TV Licence- a legal permission to install or use television receiving equipment.
The BBC is located in many places but their main HQ is in London. It is internationally known in places such as Canada and USA. BBC gets profit from other country by getting them to air their channels. Whereas, WHUFC is based in Newham making them a local business to me and amongst the community they create activities …show more content…
They also want to reduce wage of players and turnover by 5% which essentially help the m reach their aim of reducing debt to £25m. Moreover, staying in the Premier League ensures the club to earn a great deal of income.
Another aim that WHUFC tries to meet is to expand the WHUFC brand meaning for people around the world to recognise WHUFC. In 2016, WHUFC are planning to move from their stadium in Upton Park to the Olympic Stadium in Stratford. Hopefully, this should attract quality players and especially tourist who will be interested in visiting Stratford. This will also benefit WHUFC financially because the Olympic Stadium has much more seats meaning more tickets will be sold.
The last aim is to be at the heart of the local community. This means they need to get more involved and be a part of the local community activities. This includes the development of ‘Moore than a Football Club’ campaign, which will bring more of the younger generation closer together and also raises money for charitable …show more content…
WHUFC need to make a profit because they a privately owned therefore would expect a good profit. Whereas the BBC are publically owned and receive income from individuals and the a guaranteed TV Licence fee for 10 years which means it is not necessary for them to earn additional money.
The BBC and WHUFC have similar and different objective. One objective that BBC has is ‘providing a wide range of enjoyable and entertaining content.’ This means they need to engage their audience with T.V of all types. Similarly, WHUFC aim to ‘finish in the top half of the Premier League.’ They do this by investing on quality players which will entertain the fans and spectators. They both link as they both have to entertain their audiences and fans.
Finally, BBC must ‘provide high-quality news, current affairs and factual programming.’ This means that they need to keep the viewer’s up to date with the latest news. This is different to WHUFC because they do not need inform their fans with factual programmes and current affairs that are happening locally and around the world as it would be particularly
