WEB Application

To me, my purpose has always been to help everyone feel more comfortable with not only each other, but also themselves. What compels me to be a WEB member is the way I felt when I was about to become a sixth grader, and oftentimes throughout my first two years here: Like I didn’t belong. It’s a hard feeling to forget, which is why I want to help the new incoming students of next year understand that their differences don’t have to be what set them apart. While these differences make them shine, having those differences makes them similar to everyone else, being that everyone is different. I have a strong passion for helping anyone and everyone I can, and helping the incoming sixth graders (and other new students) of next year is a new and exciting way for me to give back to my community the way the WEB leaders two years ago did when I felt like I didn’t belong. The decisions I feel the best about are always the ones that positively influence others. Over the years, I’ve done a variety of things to pass on the love and lessons everyone in my community has given me, and learned to find my way through middle school after my own diagnosis of a heart condition two months ago.

Though mild, it has helped me learn and grow as a person. It took me a long time after to feel like I belonged after this. I felt less and less a part of this community after this diagnosis, and I don’t want any of my peers, especially the to-be newest members of this family, to feel this way, no matter what is going on in their life. This experience made me realize the importance of friends. Several of my friends have made me feel at home when I wasn’t, despite this being Our House. I want to do that to other students, so that they know that we know how it feels to not belong. Everyone experiences the ups and downs in life, but that doesn’t mean that when you feel lonely, you’re

Since my second semester at UT, I have devoted 15 hours a week to volunteering as a Young Life leader. Every week I help run a club meeting for dozens of high school kids, manage a planning meeting with my teammates, and lead a small group for sophomore girls. I spend hours at St. Stephen’s Episcopal School watching games and performances, and simply getting to know these young adults. Through investing this time to build relationships as a mentor and role model, I strove to show these girls that they are significant, noticed and valued. Volunteering as a Young Life leader has taught me invaluable lessons in building relationships, caring for others, and working with a team that will help me to be a more supportive and productive physician…

It is a great pleasure to recommend Rachel Sitasz for admission to the Edward Hospital Student Volunteer Program. She is one of the most empathetic, kind, and exceptional humans I have encountered in my 14 years of teaching. I teach Rachel in my 8th grade advanced ELA class. Her academics, character, innate curiosity, intrinsic motivation, ethical standards, and unwavering desire to give back, have put Rachel in a class of her own. In fact, for the first time in over 25+ years, the eighth-grade team created a brand new end-of-the-year award for our graduation awards assembly.…

Governor’s School Last summer, I attended governor's school west where three hundred and twenty-five bright and open-minded students from all across North Carolina gathered for five and a half weeks in a college campus setting. To me, this was a big milestone in life that changed me for the better. We left our cozy lives of families and friends to start with a clean slate with strangers we’ve never seen in our lives. At first, we thought of it as a sacrifice of our summer to glamorize our college application, but throughout the program we experienced things that exceeded beyond our expectations.…

Personal Philosophy I believe that all children are unique and bring their own knowledge and experiences to any educational environment. I believe the early childhood environment is a place for children to be free agents to; develop, learn, grow and express themselves, while having the confidence and respect they as a person are entitled to. Furthermore I also belie that all children have the right to learn and their learning be abundant with experiences, knowledge and quality, as well as feeling a sense of belonging to their community and learning environment. These beliefs are important to my teaching and my philosophy of early childhood eduction.…

In order to create a positive classroom atmosphere with a lead teacher, the two individuals need to create a positive partnership. According to Merriam-Webster (2018), a partnership is a relationship resembling a legal partnership and usually involving close cooperation between parties having specified and joint rights and responsibilities. In the classroom, the paraprofessional and the teacher mutual interests are to create a helpful classroom that helps students learn and make the experiences of the children in the classroom more gratifying. When I work with new teachers, I always communicate with them about their classroom dynamics. As a paraprofessional, I can set an example of positive behavior in the classroom by being a role model of positive behavior.…

    3. PROBLEM & RESEARCH SETTING 3.1 Problem Statement Numerous research studies have been conducted by the CII and also other FEP researchers with regards to the implementation and critical importance of front end planning in project success. But there are very few studies that provide quantifiable statistical data supporting FEP adoption. CII has published data analysis for FEP data which analyses the relationship between project PDRI scores and scope definition, and project cost, schedule and change performance. Even though the it is evident that projects that use FEP have seen considerable performance improvements, a direct correlation between the extent of effort in FEP during the early phases of the project and the project performance have yet to be investigated.…

Deep and long-lasting, loved-filled, true friendships can save more lives than any other relationship. This is where my story begins as it was the love of a friend that got me through the impossible and gave new meaning to the saying turning lambs into lions. The most frustrating thing about chronic illness is the loss of self that accompanies it. The diagnosis, or initial lack of it in my case, has a cruel way of turning your life upside down and backwards. Everything you knew about yourself disappears and you are left with someone you do not recognize.…

Before I started the SEL activity, I read the story, “Crow Boy” by Taro Yashima; a story about a lonely boy who is bullied due to his small size and being different. Then after discussing the story, I listed some of the social and emotional skills the students identified: compassion, kindness, teamwork, and understanding. Then I shared about the Social & Emotional course I am taking. My students all agreed that Social & Emotional Learning skills are important and will help them in school and in life. This established a meaningful purpose for the journal activity.…

I think here, in the mission statement, what we do is what teaching is all about and what being a student is all about, if that makes any sense. Because we are able to teach in so many lessons that they are not going to learn. Teaching moments, that are so much bigger than the classroom. For me, you learn all about the kids and their relationships and their struggles and what they are going through and you can actually help them with their family issues or their breakups and all those different things and help them learn conflict resolution skills, acceptance, tolerance and all of those things we are able to do here. When the moment arises and its important, we are able to stop everything and take advantage of that teaching, regardless of what is going on.…
