I want to explore this by incorporating dance and choreography as a solution to these problems. Thoughts, visions , and ambitions that used to be so blurry in the beginning of my dance career have now become so very clear. I was placed on this earth to heal & bring peace through my art-making. Today I can say that I'm confident, I'm proud, and I'm moved by my choreographic work. By far, it has been a journey and a long time coming to get where I am now. However, I still have so much more learning and growing to do. Now it's time to take it to the next level and I feel that WADC program will add to my evolution in the dance world. My journey and path thus far has allowed me to gain so much experience not only just in the dance world but outside of it as well. I have accomplished things and met people I'd never imagined. I'd never thought dance would have taken me this far and open so many doors for me considering the fact that when I was younger I didn't even have the desire to dance at first. I guess you can say that I didn't find dance but it found me at the perfect timing of my life when I was lost and seeking to find my purpose in the universe. Over the years I have been pushing myself to ALWAYS be an innovative thinker and creator. And right now at the age of 20 years young I can honestly say that I believe and know in my heart that I can be one of our most influential leaders & knowledge seekers of our time. I set out to be one of the greatest and exceptional at everything I plan and encounter upon my journey. As I sat to myself reading the WACD mission statement these words spouted up in my heart all at once because I can see a bright future and growing experience if accepted into the

understanding the MCCDC mission of overseeing and supporting the development, implementation and maintenance of training and education programs and participate in and support the Marine Corps Force Development System. This also includes the CD&I Mission which is developing future operational concepts and to determine how to best organize, train, educate and equip the Marine Corps of the future. I am duly familiar with both MCCDC and CD&I sacred mission to the Corps from past experiences in previous assignments that have given me valuable corporate knowledge to be able to advise CG MCCDC & DC CD&I. Having served as the Marine Corps Systems Command Sergeant Major (SgtMaj) has given me the breath and width level of knowledge with regards to the lines of execution of CD&I developing the Marine Corps Requirement and then linking with Marine Corps Systems Command to deliver the Acquisition with industry and then follow through fielding process to units within the Marine Corps, this then becomes an Item of Record (Table of Equipment) which is then handed off to LOGCOMM for sustainment of the life of the equipment.…

The short interview with Lauren Anderson is so inspiring that gives me an insight into passion and success as well as motivates me to persist in following my dream. Anderson’s story of her career as a principal ballerina seems quite simple and typical as she started early at seven, soon became a principal dancer of Houston Ballet, and then now is giving back to the society by teaching ballet to children of “underserved” community. However, I believe behind that story are all strenuous efforts and untiring perseverance along with her outstanding talent that kept her lifelong dream alive and made it come true. I can feel in her a great passion for the ballet career in every word she said and every story she told. Because ballet is hard and highly…

The fastest way for a performer’s career to end is with an unexpected injury. My freshman year I suffered patella luxation, more commonly known as the dislocation of the kneecap. I was in a full leg brace for a month and a half, then participated in extensive physical therapy over my summer break until I could finally return to dance for my sophomore year at Booker T. Washington. The time I spent unable to dance led me to explore other pathways associated with the arts. Because I was not able to participate in my technique classes I was told to take extensive notes over corrections and the class as a whole; I began to draw connections from the first combination to the last.…

Apprehension waited among us, as we discussed the facts provided and our opinions added. My parents and I accepted each other’s different view points about the topic, accompanying the ideas we had in common. As result, we came to the conclusion that I would only be participating in one group dance for the competition team; jazz or hip-hop. Picking between these two styles had to be one of the toughest decisions. My gut advised me to continue the style of Jazz because I found it easier with an extent of comfort.…

In dance, you learn quickly that without pure dedication and drive you will never be successful. While talent can come naturally, skill and technique only come with hard work. I spent countless hours in dance studios growing up, working tirelessly to hone these skills and perfect technique. A lifetime of dance taught me what it means to have discipline and dedication to a craft, values which I have also seen reflected in my clinical experiences. Medicine is a practice which calls for just as much discipline, dedication, and drive.…

As the education system has become more industrialized, children 's ' futures seem dimmer than ever. American education is more standardized than it has ever been to cut expenses and create efficient members of society; leaving many to question at what cost? Creative expression is a cornerstone in the development of young minds and with the budget being more important than curriculum many of these outlets are being cut from public schools. Dance education provides children with this much-needed creative outlet. Mandating dance classes in public elementary schools as part of the mainstream curriculum allows children to foster creativity and expression, but also will increase overall cognitive development and productivity of students.…
